Looking to Buy a House or Re-mortgage?
We understand that getting a mortgage or re-mortgaging when you’re a contractor – or self-employed – can feel tricky. It can often be a time-consuming and frustrating process. Not all advisers and lenders understand the way you work, and can see you as a ‘higher-risk’ borrower; even if your financial circumstances say otherwise. That’s why we’re in your corner.
We know how you operate, and how you get paid as a contractor, so we can better advise you on your mortgage options, however complex your circumstances may be. In fact, the more challenging the better!

With access to a wide range of lenders across the market, we can independently broker the best mortgage deal for you and your family. Our job is to help you find a suitable mortgage – or re-mortgage – deal that befits your circumstances, your budget, and your ambitions.
Your job? Your job is to work out what you want and let us help turn your dreams into reality.
Your home may be repossessed if you do not keep up repayment on your mortgage or other debt secured on it.

FAQs
My agency has asked me to send them a timesheet, do I still have to send one to you?
We need a timesheet to verify the hours that you have worked, to make sure your pay remains within National Minimum Wage guidelines, and to process your pay.
When will I get paid?
We’ll pay you on the same day that we receive cleared funds from your agency or direct client.
Can I get my payslip by post?
Accessing your payslips via your portal is the quickest and easiest way for you to keep up to date, but if this doesn’t work for you, you can talk to your dedicated team.
How Often Do I Pay Your Margin?
With our Employment Umbrella you pay the margin per timesheet per week. For example, if you send us one timesheet each week, you will pay one margin each week. If you send more than one timesheet each week, you will pay a margin for each timesheet processed.
Why is my contracted rate of pay so much higher than my take-home pay?
Your contracted rate includes the amount of money paid by your agency for the work you do, plus extra to cover the legal deductions we have to make as your employer. Your take-home pay is the amount you receive after these deductions.
Why do my deductions include Employer's National Insurance?
Whoever establishes themselves as your employer is legally obliged to pay Employer’s NI to HMRC. Although you work on an assignment through your agency, they aren’t your employer – you’re employed by Danbro on an overarching contract of employment. The contracted rate you’re offered will take this into account and will be uplifted to allow for this and other necessary deductions.
What is included in ‘Employment Costs’?
Employment costs include Employer’s National Insurance and the Apprenticeship Levy.
What is the Apprenticeship Levy?
The Apprenticeship Levy is part of the government’s target to train 3 million new apprentices by 2020 and requires us to deduct 0.5% of your taxable pay to contribute towards the levy. As with other company deductions required by law, we are in effect collectors for the government. We do not keep this money and have to pay it forward into the Digital Apprenticeship Service.
What’s the difference between PAYE payroll and Employment Umbrella payroll?
With PAYE payroll you will be employed by either your recruitment agency or direct client. Your pay will be processed by them, and they will deduct your Income Tax and National Insurance. You’ll be entitled to statutory payments such as Statutory Sick Pay and Statutory Maternity/Paternity Pay for the duration of your assignment. However, when that assignment ends, so will your employment.
With Employment Umbrella payroll, you will be employed by the Employment Umbrella provider. They will process your pay, deducting Income Tax and National Insurance, and you’ll be entitled to the same statutory payments as with PAYE payroll.
The key difference is that with Umbrella payroll, when you move from one assignment to the next, your
employment with the Umbrella provider continues under one contract of employment. This gives you that all-important record of continuous employment, which is particularly beneficial when applying for credit, like a mortgage or loan.
With our Employment Umbrella, you also get relevant insurance included in your solution, as well as additional features like our BUPA Cash Plan, that you would not be able to access with PAYE payroll.
Do you have a pension scheme?
Yes, we have our Danbro Group SIPP scheme, for more information speak to your payroll team.
What happens when my assignment ends?
Your contract of employment will stay in place, but if we don’t pay you for 3 weeks if on a weekly assignment, or 5 weeks if on a monthly assignment we’ll be in touch to see if we can help. If your assignment ends and you don’t have a new one please get in touch with your payroll team.
Will I have to pay any termination charges?
No, there are no extra charges for you to worry about.
If you have any questions that we haven’t covered you can check out our website FAQs HERE or contact your payroll team.
